Thailand Addicts After Dark

Safety and the classic traps

Thailand's districts are safer than their reputation — violent crime against tourists is rare — but they run a mature ecosystem of wallet-extraction whose tricks haven't changed in decades. Know the catalogue and you're immune to most of it.

18+ content notice. This site discusses adult nightlife districts and the industry around them for an adult readership — informationally, without explicit content. If that topic isn't for you, our sister site Thailand Addicts covers the rest of the country.

The rules above all

  1. Never fight. Whatever the provocation — outnumbered, on camera, foreign and drunk is an unwinnable legal position. Walk away, always;
  2. Never drive intoxicated — Thailand's roads at night are its genuine top danger;
  3. Tourist police (1155) exist for exactly these situations and are used to all of them.
